Not sure what to say?

Dear Kevin and Paul,

You have my deepest condolences. Russ has always been and will continue to be an inspiration to me, not only as a photographer but as a person who was fully and passionately engaged in his many projects. He will be missed...

Kevin - I'm very sorry to hear about your Dad. It was a real pleasure being in his company on the various cultural heritage trips, I always appreciated his good natured 'salt to the earth' approach to life. May he rest in peace.

Kat, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad... he was such a cool guy. My heart is with you, Paul and Kevin.

Dearest Nita, Kat, Paul, and Kevin,

My heart goes out to all of you. I lost my dad just two months ago (http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/sfgate/obituary.aspx?n=lawrence-moore&pid=164559404), so I have an idea what you're going through. The sadness is huge, the pain sharp.

Russ was a remarkable man. I'll always remember his gentle nature and his kindness towards me. I loved him and I miss him. My condolences and love to you all.

Kevin,
I'm sorry for your loss. I never met him, but reading this, he sounds like an amazing man. I can see some of the inspiration for your accomplishments in him.

Hope you don't mind my taking a second turn, but I was driving to Watsonville last night and I remembered a funny Russ story that made me laugh after lots of tears!

Kevin and Paul, do you remember the day you two, Russ and I went touring Central Coast missions? At San Miguel Mission--or San Antonio maybe?-- I was backing backing backing up to take a picture, and I backward tripped right onto a cactus!!!! Kevin had to help me pull all the cactus needles our of my derrier! ARROOOOO!...

I recognized Russ from the photo in the Chron as someone I knew through my PR work in Monterey and remembered him fondly. My condolences on your loss.

Oh Kevin,
I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing. I wish I could have met him. He sounds like just such a fascinating person. I see in you a lot of the fire for good that was described in the beautiful article about him. I lost my rather remarkable Mom last winter and I know it is a difficult transition in one's life. I will be with you in spirit on the day of the memorial your remarkable father. Lots of love. Pat Johnson
