I first knew Russ when we both worked for the City of Salem, back in the 1970's. Years later, Russ was a frequent customer of mine at Battle Creek Golf Course where he often ate lunch and read. Russ was a quiet, soft spoken man, but always had something intelligent to say. He will be missed.

I first met Russ when we started at the University of Illinois. We were roommates and shared a love for Jazz and golf. We both moved to California after graduation and settled in the LA area. We kind of lost track of each other over the years as Russ moved North, but we did get together a few years ago to reminisce and a round of golf. As usual he beat me by one stroke. He will be missed.
