Not sure what to say?

A great man that is missed very much. A leader in the community and the family. He is my Uncle and I loved him.

Russ was one of the first officers I worked with. I always had the utmost respect for Russ. As a cadet, I rode many times with him. Now that I am a retired VCSO Sgt., I can say that Russ was a major influence in my career. I tried to emulate Russ, and I hope I did him justice. May your soul rest in peace Russ. God bless you and your family.

I was searching Sheriff's department looking for lieutenant Gullion and found your obituary. I didn't know you had crossed over the rainbow bridge. You were always an honest and fair police officer. I'm proud to have known you. My condolences to your family.

There are no words that can express the way I feel. Russ was my partner, and my best friend. The day I emptied my desk at retirement, Russ said, "I'll walk you to the car." We said goodbye and the both of us cried like babies. Russ was the pick of the litter. The most outstanding thing about Russ was his honesty, integrity, and the love of his wife Barbara and their sons. Russ, you will be in my heart forever, until we meet again.....

I worked with Russ at VPD and when he was hired in 1966, I found he was a special person that could bring "new light" to the department. The PD is a better place today with officers like Russ Hayes.

Godspeed Uncle Russ. We love you.

Barbara, Greg & Todd,
I have lost a very close friend whom was a joy to work with during our careers. The last couple of years were rough for him and also for all of you. You are in our thoughts and prayers as you deal with the loss of Russ

Greg and family. May thoughts and prayers are with you. Loved working with your dad at the DA's Office. He will be missed.

We have such fond memories of Russ in high school and in all our early married years. He was always the source of laughter and joy. He will be missed by many - he did so much good with his life. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wonderful family.
