HOLMES, Retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant of 27 years, Russell Lowell Holmes Jr., 76, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord January 27, 2012. He was preceded in death by his son, John "Johnny" Holmes. He is survived by his beloved wife, Beverley Holmes; and leaves behind his two daughters, Mary and Vanessa; two sons, Richard and Roger; stepdaughter, Jennifer Mahoney-English; stepson, Jeff Radford; two brothers, two sisters, stepfather, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his four legged companion, Sherlock. He was a retired License Inspector for Chesterfield County for 25 years. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bliley's - Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, with entombment to follow at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Thomas Johns Cancer Foundation, 1401 Johnston Willis Dr., Richmond, Va. 23235, Attn: John Smith.

We were so sadden to hear of Mr Russell's passing. He was a kind and gentle man...the neighborhood will not be the same without him. Our prayer for you and your family is for supernatural strength and spiritual comfort in the time ahead and we will continue to keep you all up in prayer.

Bev,I was so sorry to hear about Russ. I will always remember is humor and all his military & travel stories he would share with me & others in the License Inspectors Office. You and your family will be in my thoughts & prayers during this time.

That is a wonderful picture of him, I will always remember him wearing his Air Force hat. Thank you for the gift of the plant to the office, every time we look at and and watch it grow we will think of you and your family. He will be truly missed at VCI, his warm smile touched all of our hearts there.
