Meyers, Russell James
Russell James Meyers, age 76 passed away April 7, 2011 in the presence of his immediate family. Russ was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Eleanor Mendez; children, Therese Nunez, Monica Lemus, Gina Marcello, Ignacio Meyers; 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; brother, Tink Meyers and sisters, Maryann Copley, Sandy Goodin, Judy Briggs and Linda Greegorski. Russ was preceded in death by his parents, 5 siblings and his son, Rusty G. Meyers. Russ was born, raised and attended local schools in Farmer City, Illinois. After entering the Air Force in 1952 and serving as an Air Force airplane mechanic for 10 years, he moved to Tempe Arizona where he met his future wife and settled to raise his family. While living in Arizona, he worked at ASU for over 10 years and a few other plumbing companies before retiring from Tri-City Mechanical. Russ was an avid hunter, fisherman and an amazing artist. His outgoing, gregarious spirit will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be held from 5 - 8 pm, Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Tempe Mortuary, 405 E. Southern Ave in Tempe. A funeral mass will be held at 11 am, Friday, April 15, 2011 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 2121 S. Rural Rd in Tempe.

Mom, Therese, Monica, Gina & Nacho - I'll always remember my other Dad. You all were such a huge part of my life and I love you all. I'm so sorry I couldn't be at the funeral, but please know that my thoughts, love & prayers are wtih you.

Russell it was as yesterday that we all lived side by side. You have always been in my heart as your whole family is my family! God saw you were very ill and very weak so he took you in his arms and brought you home to make you whole again!

I make a promise to stay in touch and watch over you family here on earth. Until you all meet againn in our Holy Land. Rest in Peace Russell!!!
