Not sure what to say?

Russ was my most cherished teacher. His expectation of excellence motivated his choirs to stretch beyond what we thought we were capable of. I enjoyed 'catching up' with him every few years...and am so grateful for getting to see him at the concert where he was honored. It was a beautiful experience to meet so many others who had been inspired by him throughout his teaching career. Mr. Otte was one-of-a-kind. He is missed.

It was great working with Russ on Winter Fine Arts through AHAA! He was a great supporter of his choir program and his students. I will always be grateful to him for making my first trip to NYC with the AHS Choir. I think of him every time I go there. Make a joyful noise, Russ!

Many years ago I wanted to learn to sing but not just in the shower where I know I could be confused with Enrico Caruso, so I asked Russ if he could teach me to sing. He said, "Anybody can learn to sing" so I looked forward to being able to carry a tune. We tried and tried and while Russ didn't want to quit he finally said, "I was wrong. Not everyone can learn to sing."

It has been many years since I taught with Russ at Homestead but I always had the greatest respect for him.
