RAU, Russell K. - Of Grand Blanc, age 58, died Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral service will be held at 11AM Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery with a military graveside service. Visitation 5-8PM Tuesday and 11AM-8PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Russell was born in Flint on February 9, 1950. He married Kathy Turner in Flint, on March 30, 1974. Russell served in the United States Navy, U.D.T. in Vietnam. He was a member of the VFW# 9455 in Owosso. Russell was also a member of the Flint Wood Carvers Club. He enjoyed his tractors, woodcarving, camping, hunting, fishing and his dog, Buster. Surviving are wife, Kathy; 2 daughters, Dana Rau and Karrie Courtier, both of Green Bay, Wisconsin; son, Russell Jr. (Jay) of Grand Blanc; 2 sisters, Pauline Hemingway of Owosso, Karen and husband Loyd Horn of Owosso: mother and father-in-law, Shirley and LeRoy Turner of Flint; many nieces and nephews. I worked with Rusty for 30 years at the truck plant and have many fond memories and stories. My condolences to Kathy, Dana, Karrie, & Jay. All will be in my thoughts & prayers...

I so deeply sorry for the loss of Rusty a very wonderful man that I have very fond memories of. He will so dearly be missed by many. Kathy, Jay, Dana, and Karrie I am so sorry I wasn't able to be there for you. We now know we all have a very special angel looking over us. If you guys need anything please contact me.

We have so many fond memories of Rusty. We are blessed to have had the privilege of knowing him. He was amazing on his stilts, a sight we will never forget. Sorry we can't be there with you all.
