My dad is gone, and depending on who you asked, he was a performer, a friend, a mentor, or just Russ, his personality was just larger than life. He had a way of showing different sides of himself to different people, and I think that was just part of who he was. Our relationship wasn´t easy. I wasn´t a big part of his life. I first met Russ 40 years ago at work. In that span we played in three different bands. We spent many enjoyable hours practicing and playing gigs around Western New York. Russ will always be in my memories. I can still hear his Banjo (my favorite instrument).
