SPRINGSTEEN, Russell C. - Of Flint, age 91, died Thursday, March 25, 2010 at home surrounded by his family. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend John Clair Ferris officiating. Cremation to follow service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope United Methodist Church or Genesys Hospice. Russell was born in Otisville, MI on November 22, 1918. He graduated from Lapeer High School, Class of 1937. On January 3, 1938, he married Audrey June. Russell worked in plant security at GM for 32 years, retiring in 1976. He served in the Army from 1944 to 1946. Russell was a member of Hope United Methodist Church. He enjoyed music and listening to his IPOD and was a very competitive fantasy baseball player. He was a long-time Detroit Tigers fan. He attended at least one Tigers game every year beginning in 1927, missing only the year he was on Okinawa and the last two years due to his illness. Mr. Springsteen is survived by his wife, Audrey; rhree children, Douglas (Linda) of Indian River, MI, David (Alice) of Durand, MI and Diane (David) Martin of Flint, MI; 12 grandchildren, Celeste, Barry, Jennifer, Lisa, Russell, David, John, Denise, Amy, Beth, Becky and Chris; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Earl. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Bertha, brothers, Claude and Clyde, sisters, Dorothy and Florence. Many good memories with Grandpa - all the birthday's, up north at the cabin on Higgins Lake, camping, visiting Flordia, holiday's and much more. You will be missed and were greatly loved by family.

We're so sorry to hear about Uncle Russ, we have many good memories; especially in Florida-Oak Springs Park. He was always kind and considerate. We always looked forward to Uncle Russ and Aunt Audrey visting us and were so blessed that they were able to attend our daughter's weddings. He will be greatly missed. We look forward to seeing him again in heaven.

Dear Grandpa,

Some of my favorite memories with you were the following:
1. The nice way you treated myself and my family from the first day we met. (Which by the way the first day we met I thought you looked exactly like Ernie Harwell.)
2. When we visited you in the hospital once and you accidentally called me "Bruce". It was very memorable to be called Bruce by someone named Springsteen.
