Not sure what to say?

In the late '50's, I sang in the chorus, the small ensemble, and went to Miami to sing for a music teacher's convention being held there. She was instrumental in my continuing love of choral music. I still sing (in my church choir.)
What I remember most was her high expectations for us all, musically and behaviorally. She treated us as if we were responsible young people, and that is what we became.
I have communicated with her over the years at Christmas and at reunions. I loved...

Guided by Miss Barron, we learned “Take joy home, and make a place in thy great heart for her. . . then will she come and oft will sing for thee.” That joy keeps singing. She introduced us to then-avant-garde harmonies, to Fred Waring’s phonetics, to funny concert pieces. She was beautiful and smart and fun and when boys would return proudly in their paratrooper gear, they would look first for her approval. She gave us her remarkable best. We are grateful.

Miss Barron was a wonderful teacher, a wonderful musician, and a wonderful woman. It was a pleasure and privilege to sing with her.

Where would we be if it wasn't for Ruth Barron in our lives. She was "Miss College Park". My brothers Charles and Victor and I
(Connie) had her in chorus. She could take the roughest guys and turn them into great singers. My memories would not be complete without her.

I never had Miss Barron at C P H but she was a sweet lady may she rest in peace. My prayers are with her family

I was in the class of '52, and I'm still singing. Ruth was a classy lady and a wonderful teacher. My sympathy to all her loved ones.

Of all my teachers at College Park High none has created a more lasting memory than Miss Ruth. I had the pleasure of singing in the Chorus, doing solos, going to All-State and receiving a special honor from Ruth. I was selected to go with the Russell High chorus on a trip to Philadelphia where we sang in the opera house and to Washington . Being the only outsider I was made to lead the Russell chorus in their alma-mater for Senator Richard Russell at the Senate Office Building. That was...

Miss Baron taught me to sing, sang bass& baritone from 1948 till 1952. At a CPHS reunion a few years ago, i came up behind her, wispered in her ear,Hello Miss Baron, she immediately turned around, called me by name, & said,You sang for me for years. WHAT A MEMORY. I ammired ,respected & loved her. Called her serveral times in the past few years. Invited to come visit her in C.P,never made it,Now i am very sorry i did not go visit her. May she rest in peace, & one day will join her & Harold Scott...

Oh, how she taught us to sing and to love music! I sang in Miss Barron's "Small Ensemble" as well as the chorus back in the early 1950's. She made it such fun! We really loved her--I did--and I smile as I remember her at College Park High.
