Ruth V Brown, 85, of Hamilton Square passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2016.
Born in Trenton, NJ, on September 30, 1930 Ruth was raised on a dairy farm in Bucks County PA where she frequently was seen delivering cans of milk on a carriage pulled by her blind horse. When she was 12 the family moved to Hamilton Square.
Ruth graduated from Hamilton High in 1949 and then worked for the NJ Turnpike Commission until marriage. After being a homemaker and raising her four children, she worked for Education Testing Services (ETS) and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
Ruth was a member of St James Episcopal Church in Trenton, First Presbyterian Church of Hamilton Square, Square Pairs, Silver Squares, Nottingham Women's Club, Nottingham Squares Senior Citizens, Red Hat Club, and the American Ex-Prisoners of War Fort Dix Chapter.
As a child Ruth loved to ride and drive horses, and was an accomplished ballet dancer. She was very active with her children's scout troops, school activities & athletic endeavors. She loved to draw and paint (oils/watercolor), knit, crochet, solve jigsaw and word puzzles, collect antiques, travel, camp and participate in family events. Ruth and her husband enjoyed their retirement years traveling in the US and abroad. Just last year she camped in the mountains of North Eastern Pennsylvania for her grandson's wedding festival.
Predeceased by her parents, Albert H. and Mildred (Chamberlin) VanSant and her husband of 51 years, Clifford A. Brown.
Survived by her Daughter & son in law, Cynthia & Thomas Bartlett of Hamilton Square; sons & daughter in laws, Daniel & Linda Brown of Chesterfield, NJ; Jeffrey Brown & friend Renee' Rivituso of Leonard Town, MD; Thomas & Tracy Brown of Cornelius, NC.
Ten grandchildren: Devon Valenti, Tommy Bartlett, Morgan Hicks, Jamie Wickwire, Josh Brown, Stefanie Brown, Jesse Brown, Lindsey Brown, Nathan Brown and Chelsea Brown
Eleven great grandchildren with four additional expected in 2016: Grey, Foster, Tabytha, Zach, Sarah, Jack, Jayce, Cohen, Piper, Brennan, and Madison.
Many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 10 am Tuesday July 12 at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton Township. Friends may call Monday afternoon and evening from 4 to 7 pm and again on Tuesday morning from 9 until time of service at the funeral home.
