Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg Obituary

Ruth Ann Carson, age 75, of Leesburg, VA passed peacefully on June 5, 2020 at Heritage Hall Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Born on December 15, 1944 in Arlington, VA, she was the daughter of Percy & Lillian Carson.  Ruth Ann grew up in northern Virginia with her parents and brother Graham, where they attended Arlington Calvary Church of the Nazarene. She was a graduate of Falls Church High School. During the 1960’s, Ruth Ann studied at Trevecca Nazarene College in TN and God’s Bible School in OH.

After college, Ruth Ann settled in Cincinnati, OH. For more than 20 years she worked for her dear friend, Dr. Thomas Marshall, DDS, at the Cincinnati Veterans Medical Center.

During the 1990’s Ruth Ann moved home to Lovettsville to care for her elderly parents.  Ruth Ann enjoyed gospel music, photography and making crafts.  She crocheted and knitted countless hats and scarves for missionaries, the homeless and those fortunate enough to call her friend. Ruth Ann was a member of the Leesburg Church of the Nazarene, where she served the Lord faithfully as a member of the Missions Council and of the Board of Sunday School & Discipleship Ministries.

Ruth Ann Carson was predeceased by her parents Percy & Lillian Carson. She is survived by her “adopted” niece Danyelle Gardner-Small and her family and a host of friends who lovingly called her “Ruthie.” Ruth Ann is also survived by her brother, George Graham Carson of NC.

Memorial Contributions may be sent to Nazarene Compassionate Ministries 17001 Prairie Star Parkway Lenexa, KS 66220 USA or you may give at www.ncm.org.

Not sure what to say?

Ruthie was just like family. She spent numerous Christmass with our family. I was very young when I met Ruthie for the first time. I couldnt say Ruthie, so I called her Uthie. Whenever we would leave, I would put my finger on my nose and say See you, Uthie! A fond memory!!

Thirteen years ago I met Ruthie/Fluffy at a luau for the ladies of Leesburg Nazarene Church. She won my heart with her spunky personality. She told me her name and said I wouldnt remember it...I pride myself that I love to memorize names...so, a few days later when I called her by name she was surprised. From then on she became a precious friend. I had the privilege of talking or texting almost daily with her. We shared our hearts and spent many times discussing spiritual matters or...

At one point years ago Ruth, Judy and I were like the Three Musketeers. We always had fun together. Ruth Fluffy was a good friend and sweet soul. RIP, friend. See you again some day. ❤

Such a nice person. She always had a kind word to say to brighten your day.

A very special, caring, Godly woman! So glad to have known & worked with her!

Ruthie was a very special friend from our Church that I got to know through the years she attended. She always had a smile and was a very caring person. Many prayers went up to heaven from her and now she is in that blessed place. Praise God!

Ruth was a kind lady with an infectious smile. I remember her fondly.

Ruthie was a sweet and caring person who I was privileged to know. She loved the Lord God and wanted the best for other people. She was such an essential help to my Mom, Janet, at the flower shop too, and Mom loved her. Ruthie, thank you for making our world a better place by being part of it.

To one of the nicest people I ever knew, not to mention s great coworker and friend
