GERMAIN, Ruth Ruth (MacDaniel) Germain, 83, of Rocky Hill, beloved wife for 57 yrs of Fernand "Fred" Germain, departed peacefully from this life, Tuesday, (November 8, 2005), at her home, with her family by her side, after a short illness. Born in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mildred (Alvord) MacDaniel. She resided in the Bridgeport area before moving to Rocky Hill in 1970. During World War II, Mrs. Germain participated in the war effort through her employment at Alcoa Industries. She married in 1948 and committed her life to her family as housewife and homemaker. In addition to raising her family, she was active in numerous charitable and community activities, including volunteer work in the Rocky Hill school system. Recently, she was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Seton Church, a member of the Rocky Hill Senior Citizens, and enjoyed playing cards with her Brimfield neighbors. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend; she will be greatly missed by those who loved her. All who knew her will remember her smile. Besides her husband she is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Thomas Germain of Windsor, James and Irene Germain of South Windsor, Jeffery and Laura Germain of Richmond VA. and John and Barbara Germain of Plainville; a brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Norma MacDaniel of Bridgeport; and two grandchildren, Sara and Tyler Germain of South Windsor. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:15 a.m from the Giuliano-Sagarino Funeral Home at BROOKLAWN, 511 Brook Street, Rocky Hill followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 280 Brook Street, Rocky Hill at 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Center Cemetery, Rocky Hill. Friends are invited to the funeral home Sunday from 3 - 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
