Hanford resident Ruth Jeanette Gomes, 83, a prize-winning orator and debater in her teens and a journalist for nearly five decades, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007 following a long illness. Ruth was born on Aug. 1, 1924. She was a newspaper reporter for The Hanford Sentinel for over 52 years....
