Ruth Graf Obituary

NEW ALBANY - Graf, Ruth J., 86, died Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany.

Ruth was born February 24, 1925 in New Albany to the late Henry and Margaret (Hoffman) Graf. She retired from the old Indiana Gas Company after over 40 years and was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Albany. After retirement, Ruth worked part time in the old Graf's Grocery Store, and soon knew everyone by their first name. If a customer got married or had a baby, they got a gift. Ruth liked to travel, play cards, and work in the yard.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Graf; and nephew, John P. Mooney.

Survivors include brother, Paul Casper Graf, New Albany; sister, Mary E. Mooney, New Albany; nieces and nephews, Peggy Uskert (John), Maureen Shirely, Mary Pat Mooney, Christopher Mooney (Carol) and Tom Mooney (Sharon); and several great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring St., New Albany. Her funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. A prayer service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
