Ruth Gruber-1978

Too many good people left us this year, and I am sorry to learn belatedly that Ruth was among them. I first met Ruth nearly sixty years ago, through her daughter Celia and son, David, when we all attended P.S.87. My parents became good friends with her and her husband Phil Michaels, and they spent many joyous parties at our home. Years later after Phil's death, when she married Henry Rosner, my parents were very happy for her and had them by many times as well.

An inspiration to us in these times. Rest in peace and pray for us.

May you rest in eternal peace Mrs. Gruber. I am connected to you through your writings about Felisa Ricon de Gautier, the Mayor of San Juan. Thank you also for shedding light on another great humanitarian Elinor Guggenheimer whom you knew personally.

May the Lord keep you in his loving embrace,

What a great loss to all of mankind. So rare that we find such a selfless and inspiring person who considers the needs of others before themselves. I am reminded of these words when I picture Mrs. Gruber..."Take note of the blameless one, And keep the upright one in sight, For the future of that man will be peaceful." Psalms 37:37. She is the epitome of those beautiful words. Her legacy will continue to inspire and stir the hope for a time when the whole earth will be filled with people...

My prayers are with you and your family.

My wife and I met her about 20 years ago during one of her visits to the San Francisco Bay area and noted that although she had matured a bit since 1944, she was still as young dynamic personally and spiritually as ever. This quality stayed with her to the...

I am so sorry for your lost. What a difference one caring person can make. As you grieve think of how blessed you were to have her in your lives, the memories she left and the knowledge that all humans are important to God. (Psalms 103:13-17).

What a Magnificent woman , they broke the mold when she was born, graced with her presence this brilliant woman set for us an example which will not soon be forgotten.Your sorely missed Ruth , this world won't be the same without the likes of you. Rest in peace Ruth.
