Read MoreMrs. Hartmann was my second grade teacher in the mid-70s. We corresponded up until the early 90s as I moved around the world as an army brat and started uni. She has always been my anchor in a tumultuous world. She helped me believe I had worth and I am forever grateful for having her in my life.

Ruth had been a docent at the Point Pinos Lighthouse for many years. Visitors enjoyed talking with her in the upstairs Watchroom. We all miss her good nature and kindness to everyone, as well as having her reliable help as offen as needed.

I knew Ruth through her involvement with United Way Monterey County and the American Cetacean Society. I admired her humor, wit, and critical thinking. Will miss our lunches at Ellies!
