Dear Bill, John, Scott, & families,
I am sad to hear that Aunt Ruth is gone. Your Mom had a great personality. When someone in Tucson makes fun of my (Tennessee) accent while I'm speaking Spanish, I always tell them I have an Aunt who sounds the exact same way! I understood Aunt Ruth's Spanish perfectly!
Aunt Ruth once said she wanted to "live" at the Arizona Inn, a stately old hotel here in Tucson. Now I tell people the same thing.

I consider Ruth to be one of my best friends and I still cannot believe that she will not be there each and every Sunday to direct me and let me be her eyes. I may not have always wanted the role but because I respected her intelligence, her accounting skills, sense of humor and her politics, I felt it was an honor to 'see' with her.

Ruth has been on our neighbor for 17 years. As her obituary states, she was a lovely southern woman. She kept a watchful eye on our daughters as they played and grew up. I always felt safe knowing she was looking out for us. Our family was blessed to move into a neighborhood full of retired university professionals of whom Ruth and her husband Bill were part.
