Ruth Stillwell Lingerfelt

Mrs. Ruth Stillwell Lingerfelt, 88, of Valdese answered the call of the Lord on Thursday July 18, 2013 while at College Pines Health Center, following a period of declining health. Mrs. Lingerfelt was born April 19, 1925 in Burke County, a daughter of the late Richard and Lola Beck Stillwell. Ruth was a lifelong member of United Baptist Church, a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was known for her work with the Meals on Wheels in the Valdese area. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robey S. Lingerfelt, two sons, Robey S. Lingerfelt, Jr, Roger M. Lingerfelt, one daughter, Marie A. Sigmon, three brothers, Clifford Stillwell, Jim Stillwell, Ralph Stillwell and two sisters, Mary Berry and Gladys Deal. She leaves to celebrate her home going, one son, Dennis Lingerfelt of Drexel, three daughters, Vanda Lail of Icard, Pam Pinkerton of Morganton and Libby Burns of Rutherford College. Also surviving are her sister, Norma S. Seagle of Rutherford College, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, one great great-grandson, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Ruth Stillwell Lingerfelt will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday July 21, 2013 at United Baptist Church on Messer Road in Valdese, with Rev. Dr. Avery Owenby officiating. Interment will follow in the Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at United Baptist Church.
