Ruth M. Lunde, 87, of rural Harlow, ND, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Trinity Homes in Minot.  Funeral Services will be Saturday, June 16, 2012,  2:00 PM at Leeds Lutheran Church in Leeds with Pastor Richard Budd officiating.  Interment will be in the Brinsmade Lutheran Cemetery at Brinsmade, ND.  Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7pm with a 7pm Prayer Service at the Nelson Funeral Home in Leeds.  Active casket bearers will be Curtis Lunde and her grandchildren;  honorary bearers will be her great-grandchildren and the members of the Robert Tovsrud VFW Post 757 Auxiliary of Harlow.  Music will be from Dan and MiChelle Nybo.

Ruth Marie Lunde was born September 3, 1924 on the family farm near Tilden, ND, to Joseph and Josephine (Lund) Kirkeide.  She graduated from the Brinsmade High School in May of 1942 and then spent several months in South Dakota receiving special treatment for Rheumatic Fever.  Ruth returned home and worked in a cook car were she met Clarence Lunde.  They were married on June 6, 1943 at Devils Lake. The couple lived and farmed in Butte Valley Township near Harlow, ND until their retirement.  Clarence died February 3, 1998.  Ruth continued to reside on the farm until just several months ago, when she became a resident of Trinity Homes in Minot.

Ruth was a member of the Brinsmade Lutheran Church and ladies aid until its closure. She then became a member of Leeds Lutheran Church and was active in the WELCA, sewing and quilting circles.  Ruth was a life time member of the Robert Tovsrud VFW Post 757 Auxiliary of Harlow and served as the secretary-treasurer for many years. She also assisted many years with the Cancer Drive.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, quilting, bingo, crossword puzzles, playing solitary and pinochle.  Ruth will be fondly remembered for her baking, especially apple pies, lefse and donuts.  It is estimated she made over 5000 donuts.

Surviving are her children:  a daughter:  Agnes (Jerry) Filler of Minot;  5 sons:  Carter (Beverly) of Minot,  Kenneth of rural Leeds,  Joel,  Jerry (Barb) and Paul (Cheryl) Lunde all of Maddock;  14 grandchildren:  Jason (Cara) Filler,  Steven (Julie) Filler,  Vanessa (Lucas) Sult,  Celeste (Justin) Badke,  Bridget Lunde and her fiancé:  Chad Gellar,  Kendra (John) Stinkeoway,  Cody,  Jordan,  Eric,  Brandon,  Ryan,  Michael,  Jaden & Marissa Lunde;  9 Great-grandchildren:  Jennifer, Brooklyn,  Chris & Jaxson Filler,  Peyton & Devlan Sult,  Serenity & Gracelynn Badke and Brayden Stinkeoway;  sisters-in-law:  Sally Lunde of Rugby and  Bernice Lunde of Mason City, IA; a brother-in-law:  Dr. Sam Leishear of Camp Springs, MD;  a number of nieces and nephews and special friend since 1938:  Maxine (Ted) Yri of Leeds.  She was preceded in death by her parents;  husband;  son:  Everett;  an infant child;  brothers:  Bernard Kirkeide, Lloyd Kirkeide and John Stensaker.

Condolences:

Ruth was a dear friend of our family for many, many years. We shared wonderful Brinsmade memories and roots.  Please accept our sympathy and prayers.  Donna Marsaa Lemar and Alma Berg

I will always remember Aunt Ruth and her smile, (of course her donuts and buns that she made) What a "chef".  She would always have her big garden for her canning and  freezing.  She was never one to shy away from hard work.  Sincere love to "Aggie" and the boys and their families.    Bonnie

To all family of Ruth - she was such a special Lady and loved by so many! She was a longtime family friend from Brinsmade and Harlow area and a VFW Auxiliary sister who will always be a memory to make me smile :-)  Jan (Anderson) Lee

My sympathy and condolences to all of Ruth's family.  I did not know that Ruth had passed away.  I have been somewhat isolated over the last several years because of health reasons.  Mom (Esther) and I visited with Ruth, Gertrude and sometimes Sally quite often.  Mom and I drove to the farm (not often) or Ruth would stop by when coming to Devils Lake for coffee or lunch.  We did go to one of the VFW dinners in Harlow for some event that Ruth was working at.  Ruth was a hard worker and very active in many community events.  We will all miss her.  Rest in Peace, Ruth!   Cathie Lunde
