Joe, Liz, Harris and Judy-
Ruth's obituary highlighted the many ways she was the "first woman" in her work. That was also true for me. In my life she was the first woman who had a major formative influence in my career. To this day I feel very fortunate to have worked under and alongside her for years. Most importantly, I recognize how her human presence has influenced professional pursuits of so many of us: Curiosity to scholarship, integrity to leadership, loyalty to commitment, ethics...

Harris and Judy, we are so sorry to learn of your mother's passing. Reading her obituary and the many tributes to her we are saddened to not have known her better.

We remember the grand lady Ruth when she was raising her school aged children and from the gatherings at Bob and Mabel’s social circle. We admired her many contributions and her steady thoughtful approach to life. She was a genuine lovely lady!
On behalf of our deceased parents Mabel and Bob and our family, Love and Peace to you.

I trained as a resident in medical psychology at OHSU from 1993-1994 and benefited greatly from Ruth’s mentorship. After starting practice, my husband Ron and I were frequent guests in her home. The evenings with Opera performances were so memorable. She was a generous presence in my life always.

Just behind my mother, her very good friend Ruth was my hero. Ruth was a "woman's woman", so incredibly accomplished. Every aspect of he was something to admire and emulate. She made me (professionally driven, allowing nothing to stand in my way) feel comfortable to be a woman. And, she was witty and smart, and simply delightful to be with. I am lucky to have known Ruth. What a treasure!
With special love to Joe,
