Not sure what to say?

I met Ruth at Centenary Church when we were "assigned" as prayer partners - it was a first for both of us. She was 92 - and her first question was about exchanging email addresses. I enjoyed our email conversations and getting to know Ruth - a lovely, lovely woman. I've been out of touch with some things this summer - and one of those was that I misses Ruth's obituary notice. I just want to tell her family, who she appreciated so much, how much I enjoyed know her these last years. I last...

I first met Ruth when my youngest daughter was in her second grade class at Jefferson. Her gentle, loving way with children made her classroom a place where all children were affirmed and all could flourish. In more recent years I was able to visit her in her "home", which changed as her needs for care increased. Whether we shared a meal or just a visit, it was always a blessing to have time with her. Her physical presence will be missed, but her spirit will remain with me and many, many others.

I can only imagine how Ruths family and dearest friends feel, yet I share your loss.
52 years ago, Miss Nuessle welcomed me, as one of her new students, into her 2nd grade class at Jefferson school in Mankato.

My memories are of her affirmation, patience, encouragement and kindness as my awkward little fingers struggled to perform new tasks at a little desk. Learning to write, read and math - Everything was new and a challenge. But with Miss Nuessle's expert care, leaning...

My next-door neighbor gave me her Sunday copy of the StarTribune yesterday. In perusing the obituary page, lo and behold, I noticed Ruth Nuessle's obituary. WOW! That took me back to 1960 in Mankato. Ms. Nuessle was my STUDENT TEACHER SUPERVISOR at Lincoln Elementary. She had only 21 students that year. She was a very caring and great teacher from which to be learning before I had many classrooms of my own. I have very fond memories of my experience with Ms. Nuessle. I can still visualize a...

Miss Nuessle was my 2nd grade teacher at Lincoln School. The year was 1958. I loved school and loved my teacher. I became a speech pathologist in the Mankato schools and was encouraged by a wonderful principal (Tom Ommen) to remember this thought: They may not remember what they learned from you but they will always remember how they were treated. How true this is for Miss Nuessle. I suppose we were reading out of the Dick and Jane books but what I really remember was a gentle, patient...
