Ruth O'Neill, of Grand Blanc, age 62, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. Funeral service will be held 10am Saturday, June 22, 2013 at
the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Reverend Dr. John L. Musgrave officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park Visitation 3-8pm Friday and 9am Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Ruth was born in Flint on March 5, 1951. She was a
graduate of Grand Blanc High School, Class of 1969. She then when on to obtain her Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics from Michigan State University and then her Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan. Ruth enjoyed knitting, sewing, needlework and making quilts. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Flint. Surviving are husband, Mark; step-children, Kevin and Erin; step-grandchild, Abigail; foster daughter, Sandy (Jim) Lanford of Clio; brothers, Bruce (Joyce) Lawton of Durand and Richard (Marylynn) of Eaton, Ohio; brother-in-law, John Wiese of Fenton; sister-in-law, Karen (Rick) Matts of Flint, Ellen (David) Anderson of Davison and Peggy (Pat) Goodall of Burton; brother-in-law, Brian O'Neill of Kansas City, MO; many nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Frances (Chisholm) Lawton and sister, Bethany Wiese. Your condolences may be shared with the family at swartzfuneralhomeinc.com

I met Ruth in 2012 when she became my new therapist. She would listen to me then she would tell me what she thought. I trusted her very quickly. She was very loving, kind and she put a lot of brightness into my world. We became friends. I will never forget you Ruth. I do believe that you are watching over all of your loved ones. You are our Angel. I'm so blessed to have known you for the little time I did. You changed my life. I will see you again my Dear Friend.

Ruth is one of the best class of human beings I have ever met. She was a genius at helping others that no one knew, cared, or dared to help. She was a great listener, always offered help in a kind way. I will strive to be more like her as I go out help people. I will miss her I love her as a perfect soul-sister!

I so enjoyed the times I spent visiting with Ruth. She was a generous hostess and made me feel welcome and comfortable. We also enjoyed some good laughs at Back to the Bricks.
