Not sure what to say?

Ruth was one of the women in my life who was a mother figure, always kind and aware of the needs of the children around her. My siblings and I lived in Central, and Ruth's presence broadened our little worlds. I recall being amazed at her lovely dishes and serving tools, many delicate, beautiful things that seemed to mean so much to her, and reminded me of how Ruth dressed, always lovely. I remember Ruth, Roy and Jens Langlow sitting on the porch with others, laughing and talking, while we...

I have known Ruth and Roy from the first time I was in Central 1978. I bought their cabin that was at Frank and Vies. They were the pioneers of Central and I enjoyed the long conversations that I had with both. Jim and Lori Wilde and myself mined Deadwood creek in the same place that Ruth and Roy did for many years.
I will miss both. George Hiller

My family moved to Central (and Alaska) the summer of 1963; Ruth and Roy were adding to their "retirement enclave" of small cabins across the road from Del and Henry Choate's place. Ruth was kind to us kids, helped us keep our wayward cat and kittens near. She and the other women of Central gave my Mom great advise regarding that first winter and what to expect (oh boy). Genuine Alaskan kindness to the Cheechakoes, that is a Pioneer and that is one thing I will always remember about Ruth and...

What a remarkable pioneer life. I was always amazed hearing stories about her childhood from her grandson Tom. For me, thinking about her life reinforces the importance of being a good person and parent. She will be missed. My sympathy to her family and friends.

Ruth and Roy have an amazing pioneer story. People like them made Alaska what it is. I'm proud to have known them and to have been their neighbor on 9th Ave. while growing up with the Olson girls in Fairbanks.

I never knew Ruth but I met her daughter Lauris and son-in-law Chris.Ruth's obituary tells us what a remarkable lady she was and we can only look back with admiration and pride at the courage and fortitude of Ruth and her generation.
We all share in a friend's loss and I send my sympathy to the family on their loss.

God Bless you Ruth. I see your smiling face, knowing you are in Heaven with Roy. You inspired Kay and I to live the Alaska life. My thoughts are with the family and the many friends.

Such a great lady, we feel very privileged to have known her and called her our friend. Her wealth of knowledge was wonderful help when doing historical research on Central. We too will miss her cheerful happy contenance.
