Not sure what to say?

I remember Ruth as a tutor at Pine Ridge School (Williston). I never had her as a tutor, but I can say how she influence my life.
I also have some great memories of helping out in the kitchen of P.R.S. with her daughter (Audrey - 1975 to 1976).
I'm 60 and these are memories that I often look back on, with JOY.
Thank you Ruth for sharing your life with us.

Charlie, and all . it's easy to sound cliche' , but your entire family truly were some of the nicest people we ever met. The "Painter house" was a handy landmark - right smack in the center of the village - used to guide lost souls, and its position directly across from the old WCSchool and the athletic fields made it inevitable that a Painter or two were often on hand.
There are so few of what we consider "old guard" left that we feel a particular sadness with the loss of each. Your...

My memories are of Ruth, the runner and race director. That's a lot of years ago. But the fond memories of a very special person are with me forever.

Thank you, Ruth

To Mrs. Painter's family, So sorry to read about your loss. The world, especially Williston, has lost a bright shining, kind soul and heaven has gained a bright star. May you find comfort in the fond memories that you have created and that others will share with you in the difficult time. Marcia Phillips Carmichael

Ruth was such a special person who was known and loved by many. She touched many and will be missed. My condolences to her family.

Charlie, and family. So sorry to get news Ruth's passing, sent by my sister in Vermont. You will endure the loss of this cherished mother, knowing our thoughts are with you. Feels like a distant family member is gone. My grandfather, Omer Verret made your parents a cheese package for Christmas one year. Your mom sent such a nice thank you. Gracious lady, now enjoying heaven with the others..

My condolences to Ruth's family. I am very sorry to hear of her passing and wish you peace and love during this difficult time. I had the privilege of getting to know Ruth when she tutored my son when he was struggling in school. She's the one who identified his issues and worked with him for 5 years. She welcomed us into her home and my son has very fond memories of her kindness and patience as he learned to read and write. I have been thankful to Ruth for all these years as I see the...

My condolences to Ruth Painter' s family.
I had the privilege of being in a writers' group with Ruth and three other women for several years before she went into Linden. I always admired her spunk and courage and positive attitude particularly as she dealt with her declining eyesight. For one of our meetings she wrote about the feeling of freedom she experienced when she got her first two-wheel bike. I remember her saying she felt like she could go anywhere she wanted even though, as she...
