Petersen, Ruth M.--89, A lifelong resident of Somerville died on July 27, 2010.
Ruth was the beloved wife of the late Ralph P. Petersen and the loving mother of Thomas E. and his wife Elena of Medford, Robert J. and his wife Alice of Dartmouth and William R. Petersen and his wife Chris of Framingham. Ruth is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held at the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) in Somerville on Sunday, August 1, 2010, from 3-7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Monday, August 2, at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
Ruth was a longtime and very active member of the College Avenue United Methodist Church in Somerville. Prior to her retirement, worked as a bookkeeper for a painting contracting company in Davis Square in Somerville. Ruth was a volunteer in the gift shop at Somerville Hospital.
