PHELPS, Ruth Ann - Of Flint, age 99, died Sunday, September 19, 2021 at The Landings of Genesee Valley.


Funeral service will be held 1pm Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,


Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.


Visitation 11am Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.


Ruth was born in Flint on February 25, 1922, the daughter of the late Raymond and Myrtle (Tuck) Smith. She married James A. Phelps on March 14, 1943 in Pasadena, California. Ruth was a member of Hope United Methodist Church. Ruth was very proud of her service at AC Spark Plug for 23 years.


Surviving are daughters, Karen (Ned) Weller of Ithaca, MI, Linda (Bill) Hoose of Fenton, MI and Debra (Alex) Borowiak of Flushing, MI;


grandchildren, Tiffinay (George) Spears of Grand Blanc, Alese (Darin) Evon of Ithaca, MI, Jason (Noel) Hoose of Riner, VA, Alex Borowiak of Flushing, MI and Allison (Vicente) Montanez of Rio Rancho, NM;


great-grandchildren, Addison Evon, Courtney Hoose, Taylor Evon, Kelcie Hoose, Corinna Hoose and Penelope Montanez.


She was preceded in death by husband of 75 years, James A. Phelps and her parents.

We were neighbors of the Phelps in the 40s on Thornton Ave. I also babysat for Ruth & James Phelps.

My condolences to the family. Ruth had a beautiful smile, I loved her smile. She will be missed.

At Ruth´s Birthday Celebration 2019

Ruth was one of the first residents we met at Landings when we were considering a place for our Mom. She let me give her a hand getting into the bus for an activity trip. She was one of the ladies my Mom has had meals with for these past three years and I would often find these ladies laughing - and when I’d ask Mom what they were laughing about “I don’t remember “ would be the response (but it didn’t matter, they were enjoying themselves).
