Ruth R. Robbins, 90, of Whiting, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015 at the Pines at Whiting. Born in Arneytown (near New Egypt), she was a longtime Upper Freehold Township resident before moving to Whiting in 2005.

A farmer's wife, Ruth and her beloved husband, Donald, were local potato farmers for many years. Prior to working for McGraw-Hill and Hoffmann-La Roche, Ruth drove a school bus for Upper Freehold Twp. School District.

Ruth and Donald always enjoyed camping. After Donald retired in 1988, they traveled across the country in their motor home, enjoying many trips that included taking a long talked about trip to Alaska.

Ruth always loved her home and cooking for her family. She loved Christmas, making it a magical time for her family. She also enjoyed a spontaneous card game with her sister and brother-in-law, trips to Atlantic City and watching the Philadelphia Phillies.

Above all, Ruth was a loving wife and mother, and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Daughter of the late George and Hilda (Hoffner) VanArsdale, she was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Donald Y. Robbins Sr., her son, James Robbins and two brothers, Tom and Cliff VanArsdale she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Dr. James Castranova of Beach Haven; her son and daughter-in-law, Donald Jr. and Janette Robbins of New Egypt; her daughter-in-law, Arlene Robbins of New Egypt; her grandchildren, Erin Murphy and Dan Gurel, Don and Kim Robbins, Dina and Mike Stizza, Jimmy Robbins, Lisa and EJ Winters, Stacy and Patrick Dixon, Kayla and Adam Davis, and Brandi Robbins; seven great-grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-
law, Betty and Walter Szymanski; a brother-in-law, Henry Robbins; a sister-in-law, Frances Robbins as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 2 pm on Monday, December 28th at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 South Main St., Allentown. Interment will follow in the Cream Ridge Cemetery.

Friends may call Monday from 1pm until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ruth's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
