Ruth Anne Shockey, 79, of Kokomo, passed away at10:15pm February 2, 2011 in Saint Joseph Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. She was born April 13, 1931 in Kokomo, to the late Newton Howard and Pearl Ethel (Brown) Rosborough. She was a 1949 graduate of Kokomo High School. On October 18, 1952 she was married to the late Albert E. Shockey in Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Kokomo. In addition to being a homemaker, Ruth worked at Continental Steel, Moon Welding, and Kolux as a secretary. She was a lifelong member of Saint Joan of Arc and was involved ion the Sunshine Club, Altar and Rosary Society, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed watching basketball games at all levels. She was an avid Notre Dame and Kokomo High School athletics fan. She also liked to play euchre. Ruth enjoyed her flower garden and spending nearly 40 years with family and friends at the family cottage on Lake Shafer. She is survived by four children; Janice Kellar and husband David, Kokomo; Debbie Tate and husband Steve, Gastonia, NC; Clifford “Butch� Shockey and wife Diane, Kokomo, and Ted Shockey, Indianapolis; grandchildren Mary Ann Brown and husband Evan; Susan Luyster and husband John; Kyle Tate and Kelsey Tate; two step-grandchildren Lindsay Williams and Jessica Williams; a great-grandson Jackson Brown and a step-great-granddaughter, Gabriella Williams; a sister, Helen Wolf, Augusta, GA., a sister-in-law, Norma Johnson, Kokomo and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, Howard Rosborough; and a grandson, Michael Kellar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30am Monday February 7, 2011 at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 S. County Road 200 W., with Fr. Joseph Aytona celebrating. Burial will follow in Crown Point Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00pm to 6:00pm Sunday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel with a rosary service at 5:30pm. There will also be calling one hour prior to Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Saint Joan of Arc Church.
