Ruth Spielman

I only knew Ruth by her name - she was a life-long friend of my mom, Bette Stein. They grew up together in Dubuque, and stayed long-distance, life-long friends. Even though she lived on the other side of the states, my mom always talked about her/their friendship. I know they corresponded a lot, and spoke by phone on birthdays. I think she came to visit mom years ago, and they went to Niagara Falls together. I was looking in Mom's address book, and saw Ruth's - so decided to google her,...

The geraniums on the front stoop were always lush, inside the violets thrived. That's the influence Ruth had, you thrived in her company. She was someone you looked forward to seeing when you lived close and someone you wanted to visit after you'd moved.

Ruth was so sweet and always made me smile. Such a generous woman. She will be greatly missed.

Ruth holds a very special place in my heart. She was my very first boss in my career in healthcare. She was my mentor but, most important, a life long friend. I will miss our monthly chats by phone where we talked about everything under the sun. She will be missed.
