Ruth A. Thibodeau

CHICOPEE – Ruth A. (Lahey) Thibodeau, 87, a native and lifelong resident of Chicopee, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012. Ruth was born on October 30, 1925, the daughter of the late Morris J. and Mary (Dugan) Lahey and was a graduate of Holy Name Grammar and High Schools in Chicopee. She was employed by the City of Chicopee as a School Secretary at Bowie Memorial School and retired in 1994. Ruth was the wife of 49 years to the late Louis T. Thibodeau who passed away on June 29, 1998. She enjoyed her times during the summer at the family camp in New Hampshire and since her retirement has been able to spend the winter months in Florida. Ruth is survived by 5 children, Robert S. Thibodeau and his wife Donna of Sebastian, FL, Paul G. Thibodeau and his wife Robin of Summit Point, W VA, Marie C. Hall and her husband Warren of Pelham, Anne L. Kluchnick and her husband Peter of West Springfield and Ellen M. Sypek and her husband Mitch of Chicopee, 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She also leaves several nieces and nephews including Mary Wile with whom she had a special relationship, her lifelong friend Margaret Scagliarini and her fellow card players from their weekly Tuesday night card games. The family would like to thank all staff members at the Holyoke Health Care Center for the comfort and care extended to Ruth during her short stay, especially acknowledging the efforts Hector, Ken and Shelley. The funeral will be held on Monday at the Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee beginning at Noon with the Mass of Christian Burial being held in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Elms College, 291 Springfield St., Chicopee at 1 p.m. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at the funeral home from 3 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory are requested to be made to the Bowie Memorial School P.T.O., 80 D.A.R.E. Way, Chicopee, MA, 01020.
