Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel - Hobart Obituary

RUTH ANN THIEL, age 73, passed away December 1, 2019. She graduated from Hobart High School in 1964.  Ruth Ann was well known in Hobart as a beautician, working at Esthers for most her career and also Magic Curl.  Until she retired, Ruth Ann was still doing “old school hair styling”, teasing and curling hair with rollers. She volunteered at Hobart Hospital as a pink lady.  Ruth Ann lived in Hobart most of her life then most recently in Portage.  She loved her family and had many friends.  She will be missed by all who knew her.  Ruth Ann was always willing to help anyone who needed her.  She had a great sense of humor and had her own style! (Not always a good one, but it was hers!)

Ruth Ann is survived by her brother, Robert (Diane)Thiel; nieces, Kelly and Amy Thiel, Mandy (Byron) Stevens, Cortnie (Austin) Lowe, and Brandie Thiel; nephew, Codi Thiel; and several great nieces and nephews.

Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome and Olga Thiel and brother, Thomas Thiel.

Cremation entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.

Not sure what to say?

I received her Christmas card back today 2021. I came in and did a quick search on google. I am very sad to find out she passed away in 2019. If I had known I would have come to her wake & funeral. I miss her and think of her often. She did my hair from high school & my wedding. She was the first person I let color my hair to cover my gray. My heart goes out to her family.

I just read about the death of Ruth Ann. My deepest sympathy to the family and all her friends. She was a sweetheart with a great sense of humor. She will be missed.

I just learned of Ruth's passing today, December10th and I am stunned. I was her classmate at Hobart High School and a neighborhood and family friend. She was one of the kindest girls I ever knew and even though I never stayed in Hobart after graduation in 1964, I made it a point to stop and see her at the beauty parlor whenever I came back to visit relatives. Heaven got a real gem and I hope to see her again one day.

Ruth Ann and I have been best friends for over 54 years. Her last words to me were "Don't cry" &" I'll call in the morning". There was no way she could call me and I can't stop crying! In those 54 years we had a lot of fun and made many wonderful memories to look back on thru the years!! She would call me 3 times a day after my Dad died to check on me. We always ended our calls with "I Love You". Who ever said it first then the other one would say "I Love You More". And so I will say...

RUTH YOU WERE ALWAYS A JOY TO BE AROUND. ALWAYS LIKED A GOOD PARTY.RIP MY FRIEND.

So sorry to hear about Ruth Anns passing. I remember her always laughing and upbeat.

Ruth Ann Was a very caring and great person . Knew her and family many years ago she did my hair several times and she always had a smile on her face and a joke to tell . She cared for her mother and dad and her brothers very much always worrying about them all making sure they were taken care of . My heart and prayers are with her and the family at this very hard time but knowing that she is in a better place now with God watching over her .

Sometimes we ask the lord WHY , he has his reasons, your family has endured two great losses of both Tom and now Ruth Ann. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad loss. Ruth Ann used to do my hair for years, she was a hoot, definitely had her own style, in such a good way !!!! Your family took me in a long time ago, when I was a little girl, I was the 3rd wheel, for my sister and Bob. All those memories of your family are in my heart ❤ forever. I am saddened by your loss, she has...

I am so, so sad to learn of Ruth Anns death. She was my classmate since grade school at Mundell and a really fun and sincere friend. You were loved more than you realized. Rest In Peace!
