REMEMBERING RUTH WIDDER

MY FIRST MEMORY OF RUTH...ATTRACTIVE AND VERY STYLISH...AROUND 1970...WHEN SHE WAS PRESIDENT OF THE PARENTS ASSOCIATION AT HUNTER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, HER LONG GOLDEN COAT ENSEMBLE CREATED A REGAL LOOK. HER SPEECH RELATED TO SCHOOL AND EDUCATIONAL MATTERS WAS VERY IMPASSIONED. EVERYONE LISTENED INTENTLY. HER KNOWLEDGE OF CHILDREN, PARENTS, TEACHERS AND SCHOOL BUDGETS WAS PHENOMENAL. OUR CHILDREN WERE FORTUNATE TO ATTEND A VERY SPECIAL SCHOOL...RUN BY THE BOARD...

Ruth was a mentor to me and a delightful friend. She will be sorely missed.

I send heartfelt sympathies to Lynette and the family of Ruth, one of the dearest, sweetest and most enthusiastic persons I've ever known. Her love for music and people was endless! I'll miss her sorely.

Ruth was a wonderfully supportive friend, generous philanthropist, and creative spirit. Her boundless energy and love for the fine and performing arts were a delight to behold. I feel so fortunate to have called her my friend and I will miss her deeply. My sincere condolences to Lynnette, Laurie and the boys.
