Chambers Funeral Homes - Cleveland Obituary

RUTHANNE D. O'LEARY went home to Our Lord Saturday, February 1, 2025, following a short illness. The Lakewood native was a graduate of Ursuline College and former Augustinian sister.  A long-time member of Our Lady of Angels Parish in Kamm's Corners, she taught third grade in the Diocese of Cleveland. Loving travel, she documented her trips in pastel and water colors.  Ruthanne is joyfully joining her sister, Rosemary McCarthy, and parents, Erma and Frank O'Leary. Private Graveside Service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Ursuline College, 2550 Lander Rd., Pepper Pike, OH 44124.

Not sure what to say?

Ms O’Leary was my favorite teacher at St. Bartholomew. She inspired my love of art and our 3rd grade class always did the best art projects. As a 8 yr old I thought she was such a fashionable teacher always wearing heels and would often stop to ask if we wanted a ride down Bagley Rd to school if she saw us walking to in the rain or snow! She was a treasure.

I have fond memories of Mrs. O'Leary. Over the summer, she took her own time to organize field trips to the museums downtown for her class. That trip to the Art Museum turned me into a lifelong art lover and supporter of our Art Museum. I still remember one particular painting I saw there in 3rd grade and seek it out every time I go to the Art Museum.

Ms. O´Leary was my 3rd grade teacher at St. Bart´s in Middleburg Hts...easy to remember because we had the same last name!...when I did well on a test, she would say, not bad for an O´Leary!...RIP
