Ruthie Mae Ruffin was born on August 21, 1944, to the late Reverend Charlie and Vastie Johnson in Johns, Alabama. She transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home on August 5, 2022.   Ruthie was baptized at an early age at New Bethlehem Baptist Church in Johns, Alabama. She later joined New Bethlehem Baptist Church Bessemer Al under Reverend Steele.


 


Ruthie was a strong and virtuous woman that lived her life to the fullest. A pillar of the community known to be a counselor to the troubled, a voice of wisdom for the misguided, and last but certainly not least, a creator of laughter for those who were sad. 


 


She was preceded in death by her husband, AC Ruffin Sr; five brothers and one sister.


 


Her precious memories will be cherished by her son, AC (LaDedra) Ruffin Jr.; Daughters, Shirley James, Rozita Coleman, Brenda (Ferry Sr.) Brown, Michelle Ruffin, Denise Cassidy, Tesia Okai, Tanyanika (George Sr.) Williams, Erika Ruffin, and Laquita Ruffin.  Two sisters, Ann Lee Matthews and Charlie Mae (Joseph) Jones; Twenty-two grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends
