Ryan was an outstanding young man who was always polite and courteous. I never heard someone say a bad word about him. So so talented in so many many ways. Tragic

The first time I met him was when he was reading my physics test to me my freshman year. At first I was kind of intimidated by him, but as the year went on, we shared a lot of laughs and he had continued to be my reader for my physics test. Mr. Deffet was the kindest soul I had ever met. Every morning I would walk into school, I would smile and give him a peace sign. He always made me laugh and always believed in me as a student. Everytime I would walk out of lunch, I would see him at the front desk and I would ask him how his day was going, he always replied with such positive things. My deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Ryan. I wish that I would have met this young man since I know and admire the family so much.

I knew Mr. Deffet from being at Wolcott during my first year. We first met when he was an adjunct for my Chicago History class, and from then on, we always enjoyed talking to each other. After several months of being an assistant teacher, he got promoted to the front desk, and everyone was unfortunate because we didn't want him to not be in the class anymore.
