Mr. S. J. Little, 91 of Wingate, died as he lived his life, calmly and quietly on Wednesday, August 7, 2013. S. J. was born in Stanly County to Ina and John Little on May 24, 1922. He served in the U.S. Army in the North African theater during World War II. Afterwards he spent his career as the treasurer of Queen City Trailways in Charlotte, where upon his retirement he was self employed. Mr. Little was a member of the Wingate Lions Club, the VFW and of Wingate Baptist Church, where he served in many capacities, among them being a faithful member of the choir. Mr. Little is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jean Braswell Little, his daughter, June Cameron and husband Ken, of Charlotte and a sister, Betty McCoy of Wingate. He was predeceased by his beloved grandson, John Barrett Gunter, brothers, Olin and Melton Little and sister, Hazelene Smith. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Wingate Baptist Church, 109 East Elm St., Wingate, NC, officiated by Reverend Dr. Derrill Smith. The family will greet friends and relatives following the funeral service. Memorials may be made to Wingate Baptist Church, P O Box 339, Wingate, NC 28174 or to Hospice of Union County, 700 W.
