S. Prestley Blake

I grew up on Friendly's. In the 1950's my brother worked in the ice Cream factory. It was delicious. Will always have a place in my heart for Friendly's.

I worked for Friendly's. For more years than I
care to remember. I had the pleasure of meeting Pres. a few times he was always a very down to earth type of person. In spite of his accomplishments he always s
poke in a way that made others comfortable

My heart goes out to you Mrs. Blake, and the rest of your wonderful family. You both made a tremendously positive and loving impact on my life personally. I couldn’t have asked for better neighbors growing up as a child. Mr. Blake will be truly missed, and never forgotten. I will never forget the memories we made all made together. My sincerest condolences.

My sincere appreciation to Nancy Blake Yanakakis, Daughter of Prestley, his two Grand Daughters, Sophia & Maria and lovely wife Helen for allowing me to know and share his unforgetable hospitality, kindness and wisdom. A man For All Seasons, Places and God, he quietly achieved the ability to succeed and be a icon for philanthropy, and, "The Common Good". May his memory be eternal.

In 1935, two young Blake brothers rented a garage at 34 Grant St Springfield MA from my Grand Uncle/Aunt Odique [Charles] and Anna Cummings. The garage was one of two set almost on the sidewalk. Uncle O used one garage and the brothers made ice cream in the other one. Aunt Anna said the business grew fast and they opened their first store six months later.

To the family, many, many friends, and colleagues of this wonderful man Mr. S. Prestley Blake bring comfort to you during this difficult time in your lives. We will miss Mr. S. Prestley Blake's presence and his many contributions as a restaurateur co-founded the Friendly’s chain of restaurants along with his brother, Curtis Blake.
