No words can describe how sad we feel since hearing the shocking news of Hal’s passing. Having just spent time with him three weeks previously, we find the news of his illness and death unbelievable. Knowing Hal and his indomitable spirit, we were very hopeful that he would overcome this terrible disease. Dear Mrs. Silvers,

Please accept my condolences on the passing of your husband, S. Harold Silvers. I grew up in West Hempstead, N.Y. and attended Cornwell Avenue School in the 1960's. I remember as a young person what a kind man Mr. Silvers was. Years later, I married a Hartford man and have lived in the greater Hartford area for over 28 years. May G-d grant you comfort in your time of sorrow.
