Brown Page Mortuary - Douglas Obituary

Sabrina Marie Ramirez peacefully passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family in Phoenix, Arizona. Born on July 21, 1970, in Douglas, Arizona she was the daughter of Laura Varela Montoya (Manuel) and Juan Antonio Ramirez (Carmen).

Sabrina's life was a testament to love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her cherished children, Hugo Vizcarra and Sofia Reyes, whom she nurtured with boundless affection and selflessness. In pursuit of a brighter future, Sabrina relocated to Phoenix in 2000, though her heart remained tethered to her beloved Douglas, a place she held dear.

Driven by an innate desire to uplift others, Sabrina embarked on a remarkable journey of service, leaving a lasting mark on countless lives. As a Social Worker for the State of Arizona, she displayed a quiet determination to aid those in need, a quality that defined her character. Her quest for social justice led her to earn a Bachelor's degree in Social Services from Grand Canyon University, further empowering her advocacy for underserved families.

Sabrina's compassionate spirit knew no bounds. She pioneered initiatives such as providing free Halloween costumes for children through a partnership with St. Vincent De Paul, and she tirelessly advocated for parents of autistic children, offering support through an online community she nurtured with care.  Sabrina loved music, especially hard rock and K-Pop (BTS was her favorite group), and she loved cooking and spending time with her family.  She would often tell Hugo that music soothes the savage beast!

Despite battling declining health, Sabrina summoned every ounce of strength to stand alongside her son Hugo in volunteering at a local church's Food Bank, epitomizing her unwavering commitment to serving others.

A devout Catholic, Sabrina's life was a testament to her faith, reflected in her boundless generosity and kindness towards all beings, including her beloved animals. Her legacy of love, empathy, and compassion will forever be etched in the hearts of her children and those fortunate enough to have known her.

Sabrina's journey on this earth concluded peacefully, surrounded by the warmth of her family, after bravely confronting health challenges she had courageously battled for years. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Albert Varela, Sr., Ofelia "Peli" Varela, Ramiro and Bertha Ramirez, and leaves behind a legacy of love cherished by her mother Laura Varela Montoya (Manny), father Tony Ramirez (Carmen), sister Elizabeth Ramirez Hanulak, nephew Davin, niece Lynnea, and a multitude of beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Services honoring Sabrina's remarkable life will be held on Sunday, April 28, and Monday, April 29, 2024. A Rosary and viewing will be on Sunday, April 28, at 5:00 PM at Brown and Page Mortuary.  On Monday, April 29, the funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Douglas, AZ, followed by an interment at Douglas Calvary Cemetery.  A reception to honor her memory will follow.

May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her legacy continue to inspire acts of kindness and compassion in the hearts of all who knew her.
