Sallie Powell

Feb. 9, 1926 - Aug. 17, 2014 Sallie G. Powell, a native of Chunchula, AL and a resident of Whistler, Al. departed this life Sunday, August 17, 2014 at a local hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister and two brothers. She is survived by two devoted children, Arthur (Donnie) Powell of Tampa, FL and Floretta Connor of Mobile, AL; six step grandchildren, Yvonne Washam, Evelyn (Louis) Anderson, Debra (William) Ruggs, Irma (Matt) Anderson, Ira Shearls and Albert Earl Shearls, all of Mobile, AL; eight siblings, Etta Girhan of Detriot, MI, Betty Blackwell, Patricia Craig, Ida (James) Pines, Samuel (Barbara) West, Walter West, Earsie (Martha) Gwinn and Johnnie Ray Gwinn, all of Mobile, AL; 21 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, one devoted family friend, Gloria White. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church 707 Mt. Sinai Ave. Whistler, AL.
