Not sure what to say?

I also taught cooperative preschool and Sally came to Ypsilant Children´s to observe our school day activities and classroom arrangement before she began her job. So, I became aware of her love of teaching early on. We attended MANY teacher meetings to share ideas at the different cooperative preschools in the area. I had the pleasure of having one of her granddaughters as a student also. Her beautiful smile was SO special. She will be forever remembered in the hearts of so many. Mary...

Sally and Burt lived across from us on Hazelwood in Ann Arbor. She convinced me to enter my 4 year old son, Hugh, in FUMCN, then my daughter Paula. She was a guide for mothers and children, and a great model for what parenting was about, and how fun it was to be involved with young children. She concentrated on the good things, and inspired many co-op nursery moms and dads to stay involved in education and community service. A new little star in the sky must be Sally, keeping a loving eye...

Not even Mr. Rogers had a greater impact on me as a child as Mrs. Sally Lamkin. Our beloved Nursery School teacher, Hazelwood Street neighbor and fine citizen, she always made me feel special and important. I'm sure her influence on me created the teacher that I am today. Until I read this glorious obituary, I had no idea how big she was, for in her presence I was convinced that I was the most important person in the world. What a gift!

We both knew Sally and Burt at Albion College, and were delighted to be able to continue our friendship in Ann Arbor. They were both outstanding people and educators and great friends. They will be missed.

When I attended Community High School (class of `75) Sally became my teacher and mentor. I helped her several days a week -in the UMC pre-school - learning about how to interact and teach children, and I received school credit for this. I later became a teacher, and taught for close to 30 years, before retiring. Sally always had time for you - to ask questions, or ask advice. I know she had a large impact on my life, and my choice of becoming a teacher. She will be missed by many!

Hu David. Ann and Cate, i am so sorry to hear about your Mom. Allan and I met your parents when your Dad came to Thurston School as principal in 1972 I think. A wonderful friendship developed and especially the bond your Dad and Allan shared over flying. He was Allan´s first instructor and eventually Allan became an instructor too for the Ann Arbor Flyers. Burt taught me the safety course and how to land our plane. I was scared, but did it. I have many fun memories of times both in...

Sally and I were in the same exercise class for years. She was always fun to talk with and was very upbeat. I'm sure she will be greatly missed by many, Karen Ferguson

Sally with son David.

Our 3 sons were fortunate to have Sally as their teacher at FUMCN from 1980 through 1985. She was a wonderfully kind they loved her. As parents, we assisted a few times a month at the pre-school, and I can still picture all 3 of those rooms. We have a great photo of one of our boys sitting on her lap at the piano, wearing his birthday crown. Burt was the Principal at the school my mother in law, Rhoda, taught at back in the day. Rhoda loved them both. Visited the cabin in Good Hart...
