Salvatore DiLorenzo III passed away after a two-year long battle with pancreatic cancer on April 23, 2020 at the age of 56. Sal was born on July 25, 1963 in Port Jefferson, New York to Nancy and Salvatore DiLorenzo II. In July of 1969, Sal and his family moved to Florida where Sal graduated second in his class from Sarasota High School in 1981. In 1992 he moved to Boone, North Carolina with his first wife and mother of his son, Kristine. At the age of 31, Sal had his son, Ryan Salvatore DiLorenzo, and for 25 years he was the pride and joy of his life. In 1994, Sal and Kristine moved to Palm Beach Gardens with their newborn son. In 1999, Sal started what would be an 11-year career as an Emergency Room Tech at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, forging many friendships and experiences that lasted a lifetime. While working at the hospital and during every chapter of his life, Sal was happiest when helping those who needed it most. In 2011, Sal rekindled a lost friendship with Vanessa Alegre, who later became his partner and wife. Together they enjoyed the last nine years of Sal's life in their "little pink house" in Bradenton, Florida. During this time, Sal reconnected with many family members and friends. This gave him tremendous joy, support and encouragement during his most difficult battle against cancer. Sal was a gifted musician and writer, a lauded colleague in the medical field and an avid New York Mets and Jets fan. Sal enjoyed playing and recording music with his son as well as spending their weekends at Siesta Key Beach. Sal spent his final days renovating his car and rediscovering his love for poetry. Sal passed away peacefully with his son and wife by his side. Sal is preceded in death by his brothers, Bill, Nick and Peter DiLorenzo and his parents, Nancy and Salvatore DiLorenzo II. He is survived by his son, Ryan Salvatore DiLorenzo and his wife, Vanessa Alegre. Sal played countless roles to many people in his short life. We encourage anyone who knew Sal to leave a comment, whether a kind thought for him and his family or a particularly fond memory. We also encourage you to upload pictures or videos that you wish to share. Some of us may only have known one side of Sal so we hope that this presents all of us an opportunity to understand his life more holistically as to properly celebrate it and revel in its memory. There will be a celebration of life service held in Sarasota, FL once social distancing measures are relaxed and we can congregate safely. All who knew Sal and wish to celebrate his life and memory are invited and encouraged to attend. More details to follow.
