Not sure what to say?

Lanny and I had dinner tonight at Alice's dining table on View St. We realized we had not made an entry this year to honor Sam's memory. I passed the site of John Spark's house on Scott St. today and remembered Sam jumping at the chance to aid an abeit us bunch of rowdies and former Black Logs to liberate the front step of Spark's house, the only remaining piece of the entire dwelling. Sam got permission from the owner so we were legal, gathered his crew and under the supervision of Jake Hart...

Our love and thanks to each friend and family member who has contacted us through email, telephone, letter, and this guest book... concerning our brother, Sam Callaway.

Dear Shari, Savanah, Sam J. and Sunday,
Sam, your daddy, has truly left a legacy in the lives of many. We see what kind of father he was by the character of his children and their admiration of him(Prov.17:6b Parents are the pride of their children), we see what kind of husband Sam was by his "Proverbs 31" wife who gave testimony regularly of her love and respect of Sam(a marriage of two truly becoming "one"), we see what kind of friend he was by the many who stood to proclaim their...

If awards were being given, I know the Callaway family would win "biggest smiles." It was, and still is, apparent how much love you all feel for each other. You are in my thoughts, and I pray those smiles will continue to be overflowing.

We will truly miss Sam. He was a great host when we dropped by the boat to visit and we loved to see him smile. Shari, we love you and your children and are here for you. God Bless you in the next chapter of your lives, Love, Ronda, Phil and kiddos

Sam was more than just a dreamer of dreams. His life choices were admirable-he chose such a warm, beautiful, godly wife and brought up his children in the Lord. He shared with us all his heart for adventure and unlimited possibilities. We lived vicariously through his family's voyages into the world. It is our prayer that Sam's passionate perspective toward life live on through you, Shari, and your beautiful children Savannah, Sam J, and Sunday Joy. That one particular harbor can be...

Although we did not know Sam well, we know how much he will be missed by his lovely family. Shari and the children have been dear to our hearts and will continue to be. We love you - Grandpa Bob and Jimmie

Sam shared his family and his boats with me. I held Sunday when she was a newborn--the youngest baby I had ever held at that point in my life. On one visit to the Callaways, Sam let me spend the afternoon and evening on the first boat listening to the Coast Guard channel and writing in my journal. On a later visit, I spent the night on the second boat (Sam says I was the first to sleep on that one) and sailed the next day with Sam and Rob. Sam shared.
