SAM CAPITANO Obituary
SAM A. CAPITANO
On Thursday, September 14, 2017, Sam Capitano passed away in Southport, NC. The son of Salvatore and Maria Capitano, Sam was born in Pittston, PA in 1921. He served in the United States Army during World War II, seeing action in the European Theater. He married Lucy Giuliano in 1946. They moved to Virginia after their marriage, where he worked at the Department of Interior for over 30 years, residing in McLean, VA for most of that time. Sam is survived by four sons, Sam, Ki, Larry and David, as well as four grandchildren, Salvatore, Kathleen, Andy and Lauren; and three daughters-in-law, Terry, Sparkle and Charlotte. His wife, Lucy predeceased him in 2008. Sam was a lifelong member of the American Legion, VFW and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a parishioner at St. John's Church for over 40 years. Visitation will be held at Murphy's Funeral Home in Falls Church on Sunday, September 24, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held in St. James Church in Falls Church on Monday, September 25 at 10 a.m.
