Sam Etcheverry died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, in Montreal, Canada, after a long battle with cancer. Sam was born May 20, 1930, in Carlsbad to Jim and Florence Etcheverry, a Basque sheep rancher who immigrated to New Mexico from the Pyrenees Mountains of France. Services for Sam will be conducted...
