McNeece-Morris Funeral Home - Fulton Obituary

EVERGREEN - Samuel Edward "Sam" Pitts, 63, passed away suddenly Sunday, July 20, 2025, at his home. He was born March 21, 1962, to Dewey Edward and Edith Helen Langley Pitts. Sam was a master transmission builder who retired after more than 25 years of service from Quality Transmission in Tupelo. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed discussing the bible with others. He was currently in his fifth semester of theological studies, which he enjoyed immensely. Sam had an inquisitive and mechanical nature about him that made him succeed in making things work again. Although he never had children of his own, he loved all children, especially his nieces and nephews and their children.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Sammy Raper officiating. Private burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery near Nettleton.

Sam is survived by his sisters, Pamela Pitts Green and Tresia Pitts Underwood (Rick), all of Phoenix, AZ, Phyllis Baulch of Jackson, MS, and Tammy Rogers and Selina Moore (Steve), all of Fulton; his dear companion, Sue Cox Clark of Okolona; four nieces, nine nephews, and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Greg Pitts.

Pallbearers will be Toby Cook, Jason Doler, Bryant Castles, Mike Bishop, Michael Kizer, and Chevy Cook.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.

For family and friends unable to attend in person, Sam's funeral service will be available livestreamed at www.facebook.com/mcneece.morris .

Not sure what to say?

May God bless you, your family & loved ones in this time of sorrow. Sending prayers for all, now and in the days to come.

Please accept my profound sympathies on Sam's passing. Sam was a classmate of mine in Biblical Greek and Hebrew. I always enjoyed his kind manner, inquisitive nature, and unabashed love for our Savior. May he rest in Him and may all of his family be blessed with comfort and peace.
