My husband and I stopped by the VFW only to learn Sam had passed away. Our son, Darin, who passed away over three years ago, was a good friend of Sam's. Whenever we would see Sam he would always be so nice to us and welcoming at the post. Seems Sam and Darin would golf and go to the casino together. Sam, I miss you already. I am honored to have been your friend if for only a very short time. You left us way too soon. I can just see you greeting your son with that great bit beautiful smile. Marianne and family...we are truly saddened that we will not be able to attend Sam's memorial services as we are out of town. We were amazed at how positive Sam always was about his condition in particular, and about life in general. What an inspiration he's been to so many of us at the Post! He was a kind and loving soul...
