Not sure what to say?

Dear Sam, my beloved uncle. How fortunate I have been to have known this intelligent, talented, generous and gentle man - who transitioned from scientist to artist, and thinker to man of deep feeling.

What a beautiful, lovely, talented, and gentle man Sam was... so many memories of him in the ASU art studios. You'll be deeply deeply missed.

Sam was a marvel, always sharp, witty and smiling - even at his age. I offered to pick him up and drive him once, he said he'd rather drive while he could, saying it was a "challenge"; but knew when to give it up. That was Sam, challenging life. Took a batch of his favorite cookies to his new home, enough to share - he smiled and said he'd eat all those himself. Will miss that smile and sharp wit, and our talks about the weather.

Sam, you were such a dedicated artist and a generous human being. I admired you for staying true to yourself, but most of all thank you for being a mentor to many of us and sharing your expertise selflessly. You will be missed a lot and may God rest your soul.

A Modern Day Master...who touched the lives of many and never knew it. Your kind eyes and passion for life and art will be fondly remembered.
