Samantha Nichole Anders, 14, of Monongahela, (Fallowfield Township), died unexpectedly Monday, October 1, 2018. She was born March 26, 2004 in Orrville, Ohio, a daughter of Pastor Gregg and Joyce Yoder Anders of Fallowfield Township.
Samantha was a ninth grade honor student currently attending Charleroi High School and was a member of the Creative Writing Club, the Art Club and the National Junior Honor Society. Sam loved photography, skate boarding, playing basketball, drawing, painting and writing, especially poetry. She was very talented in music and played numerous instruments including the banjo, mandolin, acoustic, electric and bass guitars, piano, drums, ukulele and the violin. She was a member of the CityReach Church in Charleroi where she played and shared her musical talents on their worship team. She also loved spending time with her cats and dog.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sister, Victoria Anders, and brother, Tyler Anders, both at home; maternal grandparents, Albert and Dora Otto Yoder of Hartville, Ohio; paternal grandmother, Linda Reed Anders of Charleroi; paternal great grandmother, Florence Davidson Reed of Fallowfield Township; three uncles and two aunts, Reed and wife Julie Anders of Charleroi, Nora Ann and husband James Gingerich of Guys Mills, Karen and husband Junior Vance of Beverly, West Virginia, Allan and wife Tracy Yoder of Uniontown, Ohio, David and wife Amy Yoder of Hartville, Ohio; and a plethora of cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Rev. Donald Anders, Jr. who died June 2, 2018; and her maternal great grandmother, Mattie Schrock Yoder.
Friends will be received on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 2-9 PM at the Christian Center Church, 130 Charity Lane, Belle Vernon, PA 15012 where funeral services will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Tim Burgan officiating. Committal services and interment with the Rev. Tom Harding will follow at the Monongahela Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family or to the Frye Funeral Home in order for Sam's family to start a scholarship fund (#SammieStrong) to be awarded to a creative art or music student in her memory.
